The Pacers have made another upgrade to their roster. After losing defensive minded forward Tyler Hansbrough to the Toronto Raptors via free agency, the Pacers have acquired power forward Luis Scola from the Phoenix Suns in a three player deal that will see back-up forward Gerald Green and seldom-used center Miles Plumlee sent to Phoenix along with a lottery-protected first-round draft pick in 2014. Scola will likely be backing up forward David West, while Green and Plumlee will be fighting for minutes in Phoenix. The deal brings a more talented player to Indiana and also allows them to add a player to help them appeal to long-haired hippies and European fans alike. The Suns get some salary cap relief, keeping them safe in the knowledge that their constant need to cut back payroll will forever keep them from contention. and the prospect of a first round pick in what is expected to be a deep draft next year. The trade was originally rumoured to have included talented forward Danny Granger, but the Pacers were able to retain the talented forward.
