Line of the Night: November 18th

Newly minted Nugget J.J. Hickson has been posting some good games as of late.

Ty Lawson had another big night (29 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds), and J.J. Hickson nearly posted a 20/20 game, but it was not enough as Kevin Durant posted an evening-high 38 points to lead the Thunder past the Nuggets.  The Golden State Warriors got a balanced effort from its starters as they defeated the Utah Jazz.  In a re-match of last season’s first round series, the Grizzlies came away with a win over the Clippers: 106-102.  Marc Gasol flirted with a triple-double again and Zach Randolph posted another 25/15 game. Chris Paul was a rebound short of a triple-double himself and Blake Griffin chipped in a 20/10 game.  Evan Turner had a stellar game (26 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists), but the 76ers fell to the Dallas Mavericks.  Dirknowitzki and Monta Ellis both finished the game with 20/10 outings. The Bulls won their fifth in a row as they defeated the Charlotte Bobcats.  And the Brooklyn Nets fell to 3-7 as they lost to the Portland Trailblazers, who surprisingly have the second best record in the NBA.  LaMarcus Aldridge posted a game-high 27 points.

Kevin Durant scored 38 points on 27 shots and earned Line of the Night honours.

Tough call tonight.  Durant’s 38 points is impressive, and the Thunder won, but J.J. Hickson had nice defensive stats and his rebounding numbers were insane.  Durant scored 38 points on 27 shots, though, which is crazy, especially when you consider that he only made 11 shots.  Durant’s ability to draw fouls is what kept Hickson (4 personal fouls) on the bench for part of the game, and Durant had less personal fouls.  So Durant gets my vote for Line of the Night, with Hickson, Gasol and Paul all getting honourable mention.
