Line of the Night: November 17th

Marc Gasol earned LOTN honours with a solid all-around game.

The Raptors and the visiting Trailblazers went into overtime with the visiting team taking the game 118-110.  Rudy Gay posted a 30/10 game, but it was not enough as three Trailblazers posted 20+ games.  The Grizzlies put down the Kings.  Zach Randolph posted a 20/10 game and Marc Gasol nearly came away with a triple-double.  Not a single starter for the Kings managed double digits in points, and only one started exceeded 20 minutes after the coach benched them following a slow start.  And finally, the Detroit Pistons visited the Los Angeles Lakers and lost because Brandon Jennings thinks that he should be taking the most shots, despite the fact that there are eight players on the roster with a higher FG% than him, though he did get 14 assists.  Andre Drummond and Josh Smith combined for 6 more field-goals made and took less shots than Jennings did, while Greg Monroe made as many shots as Jennings, and took 8 fewer shots than did Jennings.  Rodney Stuckey also mad as many field goals as Jennings, but took 6 few shots.  For the Lakers, Jordan Hill had another big night, posting 24 points and 17 rebounds.  Pau Gasol, like his brother, flirted with a triple-double and Steve Blake led all playmakers with 16 assists.

Steve Blake has been looking a lot like Steve Nash lately.

My pick for Line of the Night goes to Marc Gasol.  LaMarcus Aldridge’s numbers look great too, but his FG% was a little low, while Gasol’s was an impressive 8-14 (Gasol made three fewer shots, but took 13 fewer attempts).  Had Jordan Hill threw in some nice defensive stats, or have Steve Blake done a little more scoring, it would have went to either of them.

Brandon Jennings, now with the Pistons, seems as trigger happy as ever. Though he posted 14 assists, his 14 missed field goals hurt the team.
