Michale Carter Williams almost became the first person this century to record a quadruple-double in his NBA debut.

Nets fans were likely disappointed with the debut of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.  A team that some have picked to win the East lost in their first outing against the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Book Lopez posted a game-high 21 points.  For all the rumours of ‘tanking’ the 76ers were supposed to be doing, they had a pretty good showing against the defending champs and they won their season opener.  Michael Carter-Williams, officially my pick for Rookie of the Year after this performance, nearly recorded a quadruple-double in his debut: 22 points, 12 assists, 9 steals and 7 rebounds.  Jeff Green scored a game-high 25 points, but Boston fell to the Raptors.  Trevor Ariza (28 pts, 10 rbs) and John Wall (20 pts and 11 asts) both posted 20/10 games, but it was not enough as the Wizards fell to the Pistons.  Greg Monroe

Dwight Howard pulled n 26 rebounds for the Rockets.

lead the way for Detroit with 24 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 assists to go along with 1 steal and 1 block.  Tyson Chandler got 5 blocks and 3 steals as the Knicks beat the Bucks.  Dwight Howard’s back is apparently feeling better as he grabbed 26 rebounds to help the Rockets soundly beat the Charlotte Bobcats.  The Timberwolves earned their first win of the season before a home crowd and handed the Magic a loss.  Kevin Love scored a game-high 31 points to go along with 17 rebounds and 4 assists.  Indiana won their second game in as many nights with a win over the Pelicans.  Paul George chipped in a game-high 32 points to go along with 6 boards and 5 assists.  Three Pelicans scored 20 or more points.  Monta Ellis also scored 32 points as he helped to lead the Mavs past the Hawks.  The Spurs dispatched the Grizzlies with a sound team effort, while the Thunder earned a win over the Jazz.  Kevin Durant started his bid for the scoring title by pouring in an evening-high 42 points. The Suns got a great game out of Michael Plumlee who scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the Suns beat the Trailblazers and spoiled Damian Lillard 32-point performance.  DeMarcus Cousins scored 30 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Kings pounded the Nuggets.  JaVale McGee earned 4 fouls in 10 minutes of playing time.  And, finally, the Lakers lost to the Warriors in epic fashion: 125-94!  Klay Thompson dropped in 38 points in the win.

Line of the night goes to….. Michael Carter-Williams with 22 points, 12 assists, 9 steals and 7 rebounds.  Dwight’s 26-rebounds was impressive, as was Durant’s 42 points.  But 12 assists and 9 steals with 22 points on 60% shooting in an NBA debut?  And 66% shooting from behind the arc?  Magic Johnson didn’t even do that!  To put this in perspective, Michale Jordan NEVER did this. Magic Johnson NEVER did this.  Larry Bird NEVER did this.  LeBron James has NEVER done this.  In fact, there is no record of any player ever having done this before!  Michael Carter-Williams has put himself in rare NBA company in his NBA debut.
