Line of the Night: 3.6.14

Another battle for Los Angeles took place last night as the Clippers met up with their Staples Center roommates, the Los Angeles Lakers.  The Clippers had four starters finish with double-doubles, and the Lakers were treated to an excellent display of what great basketball looks like.  Darren Collison scored a game-high 24 points, and Matt Barnces and DeAndre Jordan posted a game-high 12 rebounds.  The Thunder travelled to Phoenix to take on the Suns.  While there Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook gave stellar performances, but neither was able to top a career-high 41 points from Gerald Green as the Suns topped the Thunder.  And finally, the Heat made sure that the Thunder wasn’t the only top ranked team to be upset as the Spurs downed the visiting Heat in San Antonio.  Tim Duncan contributed a 20/10 game in the victory.

Tim Duncan is still posting 20/10 games and beating the best teams in the league.

At almost 38 years of age, Tim Duncan is still posting 20/10 games and beating the best teams in the league.

Though it came in a losing effort, my pick for Line of the Night goes to Russell Westbrook.  Gerald Green’s career-high 41 was amazing, but his all-around game simply was not as impressive as Westbrook’s, who was one assist and one rebound shy of a triple-double to go along with his 36 points.  Westbrook also posted 4 steals, which was one more than Green’s total.  Though Green was able to get to the line more, and hit more shot from behind the arc, Westbrook came away with the high FG%.  It is a close call, but it seems clear to me that Westbrook had the better over-all game.
