Line of the Night: 1.4.14

Kevin Durant posted the highest single-game point total of the new year.

Kevin Durant posted the highest single-game point total of the new year.

Despite double-doubles from each member of their starting front court, the Sacramento Kings fell to the Charlotte Bobcats who got a game-high 30 points from Kemba Walker.  Like the Kings, the Trailblazers got double-doubles from each member of their starting front court and also lost to an Eastern conference team: the 76ers.  Thaddeus Young posted a game-high 30 points.  The Suns made short work of the Bucks as they successfully defended their home court.  The Clippers struggled in their first game without All-Star point guard Chris Paul as they fell to the Spurs.  Kevin Durant went ballistic on the T-Wolves, posted an season-high 48 points, which is also the highest total of the year so far (though it’s only been four days).  Kevin Love gave an honest effort, posting a 30/10 game.  If seems like every starting court in the league featured multiple double-doubles as the Bulls saw Joakim Noah, Luol Deng and Taj Gibson all post double-double as they beat the Hawks, who continue to struggle without All-Star center Al Horford.  The injury depleted Nets and Cavs went head-to-head with the Nets coming out on top.  The Battle For Florida went down as one might expect, with the Heat topping the Magic.  And Paul George led the Pacers past the Pelicans: 99-82.

Thaddeus Young led the 76ers past a very talent Portland squad.

Thaddeus Young led the 76ers past a very talent Portland squad.

My pick for Line of the Night goes to Kevin Durant.  He posted solid defensive stats, and solid assist and rebounding number.  Some plays may have performed a little better than Durant in those aspects, but nobody scored anywhere near the total Durant posted.  The next highest scoring total was 17 points less than Durant!  And me manage to get to the line a lot. Honourable mention goes out to Thaddeus Young and Kemba Walker for leading their teams to wins with solid 30-point performances, and to Kevin Love for another solid, MVP caliber game.
