LaMarcus Aldridge continues to post MVP caliber numbers as he had another 20/20 game, but on this night it was not enough as the Houston Rockets topped the Portland Trailblazers who were led by a 30/10 game from Chandler Parsons.  LeBron James posted a game-high 30 points, but it was not enough to top the Hawks who beat the Heat 121-114.  The Toronto Raptors lost to the Charlotte Bobcats, who got an All-Star performance from big-man Al Jefferson who was only 1 rebounds shy of his own 20/20 game.  Like Al Jefferson, Pau Gasol was a rebound shy of a 20/20 game, but the Lakers fell to the Bulls by a basket.  For the Bulls, Joakim Noah managed to break the 20 mark for rebounds, but came up 3 points short of a 20/20 game.  Anderson Varejao matched Noah’s rebound total, but likewise failed to breach the 20-point mark, and the Cavs ended up losing to the Mavs.  In keeping up with patterns of the evening, DeAndre Jordan also hauled down 21 rebounds while failing to reach the 20-point mark, as the Clippers beat the Detroit Pistons.  Rodney Stuckey came off the bench to score a game-high 29 points for the Pistons.  The Pacers improved the league’s best record as they faced the Warriors.  Anthony Davis had a stellar defensive performance to help end the Pelicans’ losing streak at the expense of the Memphis Grizzlies, spoiling a 20/20 game from Zach Randolph.  In a battle for the island, the Knicks fell to the Nets: 103-80.  Andray Blatche was one point shy of a 20/10 game off the bench.  And finally, Michael Carter-Williams matched Parson’s evening-high 31 points, but the Wizard spoiled the performance, beating the 76ers: 107-99.

It is a tough call tonight.  Five players posted 20 or more rebounds, while two other players posted 19 boards.  Chandler Parsons posted an evening-high 31 points with a solid FG%, and though he didn’t pull down as many boards as Randolph, Noah, and Varejao, he did get more assists than all of them.  He defensive stats, however, were nowhere near the kind of numbers put up by Pao Gasol and Anthony Davis.  I’m a big fan of defense, so weighing that into the equation I’m going with Pau Gasol.  Though he didn’t get as many assists as Parsons, his rebounds+assists outweigh Parsons, and though Parsons managed to score 11 more points, Gasol blocks 5 shots to Parsons’ 2 and also added 3 steals, of which Parsons got none, meaning that Gasol’s blocks+steals number exceed Parsons’ by 6.  Weighing points against steals and blocks is hard to do, but I’m more impressed with 5 blocks than I am with 11 points.  This one is a little too close to call though, and Parsons has a solid case.
