Line of the Night: 1.11.14

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant

For the second straight night the Detroit Pistons got double-doubles from each member of its starting front court as they won their second straight game.  Terrance Jones had a monster night on the glass for the Rockets as the beat the Wizards.  The Raptors successfully defended their home court, handing the Brooklyn Nets their first loss of the season.  DeMar DeRozen posted a game-high 26 points.  The Portland Trailblazers topped the Boston Celtics as they pulled into a tie for the North-West Division.  The Knicks won their 4th straight game with a victory over the 76ers.  Kevin Durant a game-high 33 points as he led the Thunder past the Bucks.  The Denver Nuggets won their 5th straight game while handing the Magic their 7th straight loss.  Anthony Davis scored 28 points and hauled in 14 rebounds, but it was not enough for the Pelicans to overcome a 40-point performance on the part of Dirk Nowitzki.  And the Charlotte Bobcats got big nights out of Kemba Walker (29 points) and Gerald Henderson (30 points), but it was not enough to defeat the Bulls, who got a balanced team effort.

Dirk Nowitzki posted an evening-high 40 points.

Dirk Nowitzki posted an evening-high 40 points.

My pick for Line of the Night does to Kevin Durant.  Dirk Nowitzki’s evening-high 40 points is impressive, but Durant’s strong rebounding and play making gives him an edge on Dirk, who only got 4 rebounds, and 4 assists to Durant’s 10 boards and 7 assists.  And Durant was the only player to post a 30/10 game last night.
